Thrifted Sweater Re-Do

I bought a blue sweater cardigan at a thrift store almost a year ago. It was soft, cheap ($1!), and two sizes too large. I thought it would be OK- you know go for the boyfriend look. One year later, I have never worn it out of the house, with my board shoulders it makes me look baggy.

Look at those baggy sides!

Over the weekend I finally got around to working out the kinks on the sweater. This ended up being a very easy project (love when that happens). I simply used Mandy - my body form - as a template for my body. I turned the sweater inside out and started pinning it pretty close to the form.

mmmmmm... curves

Then I took my sewing machine and sewed a tight stitch following those pins. Then I trimmed down the extra fabric and that's it! I was lucky that the length was perfect for me and the arm length was great too!

Now you can see the curves!
And for those of you who are related to me and complain that I never put pictures of myself on my blog, here is a sassy one just for you:

What kind of weekend projects did you get into?

I used and broke my brand new serger while attempting to make my first quilt! More to come on that next week!
