Last week my lovely family threw the hubby and me a wonderful baby shower for our little baby to be!
My sister and I designed the invites together using Publisher and got them printed at postcard.com. At home we use mason jars a drinking glasses and they are cheap and cute (and trendy) decorations. So that is what we based the card off of. We also used neutral colors since we aren't finding out the sex of the baby until he/she comes out!!
Once I made the invites and printed them, I knew that I wanted to make Mason Jar Cookies! I scoured Google and Etsy for a mason jar cookie cutter - can you believe that I didn't even find one?!? I was shocked. I was able to find a dozen ready made mason jar cookies for about... $40 a dozen on Etsy! (WHAT?) So that was out of the question.
Then the hubby and I brain stormed about making a cookie cutter. My mom and sister didn't think it could be done- but I knew it could. So here are the steps we used to do this:
1. Cut off the top 1'' of a tin jar using tin snips.
2. Carefully bend the tin strip with needle nose pliers into the shape you need.
3. When shape is complete join ends of strip (after you cut off excess) use a staple - we did have to hammer the staple in.
4. Clean and its ready to use.
Now I'll be the first to admit that is a very rough cookie cutter - not very elegant. But it got the job done pretty well. I look forward to trying this on a few more cookies, too.
We had a great shower! We are so thankful for everyone that came and supported us. We are so blessed to have a great family - and we can't wait to introduce you to our little one :-)
Happy weekend to all!
